Hidden Currents (Lantern Beach Mysteries #1) Reviews
The story line was good but it was a story within a story, and I did not realize the main story would not be finished in this book. You have to wait for Book 2 and/or 3 to come out to find out the outcome of the main story - which is what intrigued me to purchase this book. So while it was a good read, I'm quite disappointed as I kept anticipating the finality of it all. Had I known it was a cliffhanger, I would not have started reading it at all.
Usually Ms. Barritt gives me books in exchange for an honest review. I bought this one, though, because I was out of town and did not sign up properly for the new series. Cady Matthews is undercover with a dangerous gang as the story begins. She got in trouble with them, killed the leader in an unusual way, and went into hiding in beautiful Lantern Beach. She now goes by the name of Cassidy Livingstone and is the driver of a pink ice cream truck.
Now a body was found on the beach near her home. S ...more
Fans of Christy Barritt will not be disappointed with this new series!
In this book we are introduced to Cady who has gone into hiding from a dangerous criminal gang, so she can testify against them. Whilst she is living her temporary new life at Lantern island she is drawn into an intriguing murder mystery there. I immediately fell in love with Cady's character. Her spunk, bravery & kindness makes for a pretty awesome heroine. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I love this first book in a new series by Christy Barritt! Cassidy is in hiding from dangerous thugs, on an island in North Carolina, trying to keep a low profile and not let people, especially her handsome neighbor Ty, know that she is a police detective. She drives around in a noisy ice cream truck, elling ice cream to tourists because the locals avoid her ice cream for some unknown reason! Before she is there long, a body turns up on the beach, the suspected killer's wife is insisting he is i ...more
"Everything is worse when faced alone."
Undercover Detective Cady Matthews has often felt alone, being the only child of parents whose main focus has, and always will be, money and prestige. Unfortunately, Cady is quite alone in a deserted alley; her life hanging in the balance with the odds being in her enemy's favor, save for her prowess with a ball and the hope that back-up will miraculously arrive in time to extract her from the wrath of a notorious West Coast gang leader.

Dead Body on the Beach
"You can't take the investigator out of the detective" . Top undercover Seattle detective has killed the gang boss, and the gang is out for revenge. Until the trial, the Carolina Outer Banks seem a safe place, with a new identity driving a pink ice cream truck. But a botched murder investigation by the local police has an innocent man arrested. How can she interview suspects and collect evidence while concealing who she really is? And how can she resist the hunky former Nav ...more
Christy Barritt will keep you turning the pages. I received the first book in the series as a freebie. When I finished it I ordered the next one and before I knew it I bought all 6 books in the series and loved each one. I read all six books in less than 7 days. There is suspense, murder, gang related drug trafficking, humor- an ice cream that seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to playing music - even when its not turned on. You can read each book in the series as a stand alone but ea ...more
This is my second series by Christy Barritt. This one isn't as humorous as her other series based in the Outer Banks, but it is just as riveting. I struggle a bit with two "Christian" characters who snipe at each other so much and our main character who lies through her teeth. The Bible says that all liars have a place in the Lake of Fire. Even though she is trying to keep herself hidden and protect herself, she is still a Christian first and foremost, and she is lying left and right - where is ...more
