She's a woman with a burning need to break free from her past . . . Rose Landro is on the run. Seeking refuge at the Rimrock Ranch, she is finally ready to claim the land her granddaddy left her and make a fresh start. But her return is rife with controversy when cattle begin disappearing--and a handsome menace named Tanner McCade starts watching Rose a little too closely. Could the new cowhand be connected to the men she's hiding from? Or is there another reason the rugged stranger is shadowing her every move? He's a man ready to fight boldly for his future . . . There's a secret in Rose Landro's eyes, a mystery that Special Ranger Tanner McCade is determined to uncover. Even if the beauty isn't behind the cattle rustling he's investigating, she's way too skittish, and all too exquisite for Tanner to just let slide past his piercing gaze. Ortegas a couple who took her in as a child, now was her time for avenging what had.been done to them. Back at the homestead that was her grandfather’s, she was to inherit it. Did she, or what was the last changes

This book grabbed my attention in the first few paragraphs but unfortunately it lost it somewhere along the way. This book definitely has action, suspense, romance, and violence. It’s a quick read with some interesting and disgusting characters in it. Normally I like Janet Dailey but this isn’t one of my favorites. I felt like she started on some subplots with other characters like Ferg, his son, and Bonnie but didn’t follow through. I felt the story line was a bit far fetched. I also didn’t car ...more

This story and these characters grabbed my attention right from the beginning and kept me spellbound all the way through. It's a nice blend of mystery, suspense, action, and romance. It has a lot going on as Rose Landro returns to Rimrock Ranch to claim what is rightfully hers. She may be hiding out from a Mexican cartel but returning to the ranch is even scarier. Tanner McCade is working undercover investigating a rash of cattle thefts when he meets Rose. He knows she's hiding something but has ...more

Ready to break free but first she must deal with missing cattle and a handsome cowboy named Tanner.

Special Ranger Tanner is in the cross hairs as he's sent to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearing cattle while not getting too close.

Yet, you can't deny he has feelings for Rose Landro as he not only wants to protect her but possess her.

The dilemma only builds as her vulnerability starts to weaken....

More suspenseful than romantic this one had me flipping pages quickly. The characters are edgy, rough and faithful to their values. Rose and Tanner had a tough start with a slow burning romance. Her troubles with the land, not knowing who to trust and wondering when her past will catch up made the story intriguing. Rose isn't an easily likable character, she's stubborn and intelligent yet common sense alludes her at times. I enjoyed Tanner's gentleman side and the other characters added some cow ...more
