Called to Protect Reviews
"You have 24 hours to kill the judge. Make it look like an accident, if you fail, she dies."
Deputy Marshall Blake MacCallum has hours, kidnappers have his daughter. When a fifteen car pile-up precipitates the discovery of young women trapped within the bowels of a human trafficking ring, Blake's daughter surfaces briefly, only to mysteriously fade back into the night. Frantic with worry, Blake confides in a team of high level law enforcement, including some of his best friends, members ...more
Whew! Let me catch my breath as I try to gather the words to describe this adrenaline pumping, heart-racing new release about a law enforcement family set in my own hometown of Columbia, SC! The stark reality of human trafficking broke my heart and Ms. Eason has done a jam up job of exposing the horror of this ever-growing crime.
My heart remained in my throat throughout the better part of this novel as the heroic, Chloe St. John, and her canine partner, Hank, work side-by-side to bust up a huma ...more
I just finished the second book in the Blue Justice series, and a warning, once you turn that first page the nonstop action is going to make you keep turning and gasping, as the shoes start to drop. This one is just as good as the first, and we are with the St. John family, and mainly Chloe and her K-9 Hank, but other members of this police family are here.
The book deals with the tough subject of human trafficking and we meet it first hand when a member of their family goes up missing.

Fast paced, enjoyable read regarding human trafficking. I enjoyed the suspense yet thoughtfulness of the characters.
Lynette Eason knows her game when it comes to writing suspense. Even though her novels are titled Romantic Suspense, they are heavier on the suspense than romance, which is how I like my romantic suspense. In her newest series Blue Justice, the second book Called to Protect is a fast pace hunt for teenage girls, and Eason has me flipping through the pages hunting for the resolution.
Eason knows her research or at least how to find information with actual police officers to make her story ring tr ...more
Called To Protect gripped me from the very first page. This exhilarating novel is packed with suspense and action, combined with the camaraderie of friendship, family, and the bonds forged in the midst of terrifying chaos. Cases that threaten the investigators’ family increase the stakes as clues must be unravelled and leads followed, creating a fantastic story.
Lynette Easton’s first book in the Blue Justice series was outstanding and this second book, Called To Protect follows suit. It has ever ...more
When Chloe St. John and her German Shepherd Hank are called to the scene of an accident, everyone is shocked at what they discover. US Marshall Blake MacCallum has trusted his secret to only one person—Chloe’s brother.
As Chloe and Blake join the task force to find human traffickers, protect a judge, and search for Blake’s daughter, they spend a lot of time together. Blake is impressed with Chloe’s capability (and he can’t help but notice she’s a pretty woman).
With plenty of high-stakes, intense ...more
FTC DISCLOSURE: I received an electronic copy of this book from NetGalley. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
My favorite two things about this book were how much the talents of K-9 officer Hank were featured and that the human trafficking angle was handled so expertly as to highlight the dangers of it while not delving into the nastiest parts. The author handled both of these things like an old pro, with lots of grace, spot-on details, and creativity.
