How do I describe this book? I had really high expectations after Firelight, and it . . . kind of fell short? It was still a good book, but some things just didn’t work for me.
- Trellis. Come on guys, this one was a given. It was especially great when I opened the book and the first section was a two-page spread of Trellis. That made my fangirl heart happy.
- The Encounter With Emily. The artwork was just so amazing and the emotions were so high...... <3
- The Artwork. The art in the Amul ...more
My students and I have waited a long time for this book! I’ll say that it met (but did not exceed) my expectations. I felt as though there were some gaps of information that could have been filled in better. And now we have even more characters to keep track of. It definitely sets things up for an exciting conclusion, and I honestly don’t know how they’re going to wrap everything up in just one more book. Looks like the wait is on to find out!
I thought this was the last book but it’s not 😱

The characters seemed fractured. I struggled to keep up with the scenes, who was who, and what was going on. On top of all that, I recall stunning images from this series. I th ...more
I blew through all 8 volumes in about two weeks. I liked Amulet more throughout those first 5 installments, when it was a fantasy/steampunk saga that slowly unraveled a richer and more complex world. #6, #7, and #8 have gone full high-tech space opera and it's hard not to feel character development being sacrificed for greater spectacle. Half-baked subplots and world building inconsistencies have also piled up. If #9 wasn't the conclusion I'd probably not have kept reading, but it's easier to fo ...more
I can't believe there is going to be series 9.
